Aren’t the overcoming of obstacles and difficult circumstances enough to prove the surety of ones convictions?

If the obstacles are gone, doesn’t it make the pursuit inherent less glorious once overcome? To remove circumstances is to remove the real from the reality, to remove the zeal from the journey.

Few things are more popular in the food world than Coca-Cola and Mcdonald’s.
It’s funny that this tiny island off the coast of the Morocco would have a better version of these two iconic brands than in the US.

-Glass bottles are common, drinks taste better in a glass. Heck even ice water in a glass jar tastes better than the flimsy thin plastic bottles. In the US you pay extra for glass, IF YOU CAN EVEN FIND THEM.

Here? Glass bottle Coca-Cola, Water, Nestea, Fanta, Sprite: Standard issue.

“Mcdonald’s is pretty much same around the world” is a sentiment that is NOT TRUE. I’d argue Asian Mcdonald’s are better (Bulgogi Burgers and Taro Pies [google it]) and now I’m convinced so are European Mcdonald’s. The sandwiches are better, fresh and well crafted, they actually resemble the picture on the bright LCD menu, not the toppled, spin cycle mess of an American Big Mac.
But that’s not my point today; let me introduce to you the delicacy known as McCafe International.
(From this point on, I’ll just label things, no other words are needed.)

European Expresso Coffee: Nothing at a European Cafe is served by means of a spicket. Spicket, that little lever thing you pull on a tin canister to get Sweet Tea at Mcdonald’s or at Starbucks when you ask for a Blonde roast. Las Palmas literally doesn’t have spickets for drinks ever. Orange juice, squeezed to order.
European coffee, done to order, expresso machine, no filter, always. Love it.

This little contraption is “Waiter, come hither!” device. Basically the staff leave you alone until you need something. You push the orange bell to signal a waiter to service your table, get you extra napkins etc, but in the US getting the attention of a waiter can feel like that guy with the ear muffs with the glowing sticks trying to woo in a 747 at the airport terminal. A button will do efficiency and consumer satisfaction a favor. And if you don’t push that button, they literally do not show up haha. They leave you alone and don’t badger you until you push the button and are ready with your order, they also don’t check in and say “how are things?” an overridiculousamount (which is cool the first time, but not the sixth, seventh, fifteenth time they visit le table for two.) You push the “E” when you want your check or are about to leave.

Voila, easy.
