Cancer.
So here’s the thing.
Cancer cells are cells in a body that are useless, they contribute to exploiting the weaknesses of a body and they do nothing to solve the problems of the body and they actually multiply and they harm the body.
Self-proclaimed Christians would rather press colorful buttons that arduously manipulate pixels on a screen, sit around wallowing in their own self pity analyzing the various flaws of the product of human interaction, or studying the insides of their eyelids, than pursue a meaningful relationship with God or community, meaningfully contributing to exquisite opportunity of embracing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Instead, these pseudo-Christians bicker and grumble from the outside and make little meaningful effort to improve the problems they see. They don’t want to participate yet in the same breath believe that they see the picture clearly as though they would understand the true reality of the community, though apart from the community. Like a mirror, a mindless piece of matter that can show flaws but is unwilling or unable to do anything meaningful about the flaws.
I think people forget that Christians are people and a mandatory requirement of being Christian is also being a sinner. If you’re not a sinner you can’t be a Christian, you don’t need a Savior.
People aren’t better by virtue of an ipod packed with Hillsong United or even exhibiting friendly community. Rather Christians are just sinners redeemed by grace. Jesus came for messed up people, in messed up communities. We don’t need faux-Christians that point out flaws like a mirror, biblical laws do that already.
Do realize that your public complaining combined with passivity says more about your heart condition as it relates to what you claim Christ has done in your life as a opposed a truly regenerate heart that sees flaws and would love the Body of Christ enough to weep and reach out to the Body.
You might be right, but don’t mistake your correct (or incorrect) assessment for genuinely loving your relationship with God and His people, however messed up they are. Don’t mistake your intellectual insight/blindness as though it were equal to faithfully doing what God calls you to do.
You don’t love the body. Just because you’re physically there, doesn’t mean you’re helping the cause of Christ. Jesus, the person you claim to love, yet you don’t care about talking to Him or reading his Gospel to you. You take and rarely give back, except for to use it as leverage in the future to excuse yourself from responsibility.
Parts of a body that exacerbate weaknesses of the body, that divide other cells against the body due to bickering and passivity. You’re not helping. You don’t love us as much as you want to convince yourself.
You’re killing us.
Chemotherapy wouldn’t be enough.
Luckily, with God all things are possible. Physical cancer cells can’t be won over.
With the Gospel, spiritual cancer cells can be redeemed, I was one of them.
